The International Master of Disaster Management (M.DM.) welcomes applicants from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds who are interested in developing the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters.

One of the program's greatest strengths is its multidisciplinary learning environment. Students study alongside peers from different professions and sectors, creating opportunities to exchange perspectives, learn from one another, and build a strong international professional network.
Applicants typically come from disciplines such as:
- Medicine
- Public Health and Healthcare Professions
- Social Sciences (including Social Work, Sociology, Public Policy, Geography, and Media & Communication)
- Engineering and Technology
- Natural and Environmental Sciences
Applicants whose academic or professional background is not listed above are still encouraged to apply. Every application is reviewed individually by the Admissions Committee, taking into account the applicant's academic qualifications, professional experience, and interview.
