Prof. (Emeritus) Yosef Shiloh
Prof. Yosef Shiloh holds the David and Inez Myers Chair in Cancer Genetics at the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry. He is a member of the Israel National Academy of Sciences and Humanities and of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
He won the 2005 EMET Prize in Life Sciences, the 2011 American Association for Cancer Research G.H.A. Clowes Memorial Award for Outstanding Accomplishments in Cancer Research, the 2011 Israel Prize in Life Sciences, the 2015 Olav Thon Prize in Natural Sciences and Medicine (Oslo, Norway), and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Israel Society of Genetics (2025).
He has dedicated his scientific career to understanding the rare and devastating genetic disorder ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T) - a pursuit that led to the identification of the responsible gene, ATM, in his lab. His group is focused on the ATM protein, the DNA damage response and the link between genome instability, aging and cell senescence.
