Prof. Inna Slutsky
Prof. Inna Slutsky is Head of the Sieratzki Institute for Advances in Neuroscience, former President of the Israel Society for Neuroscience, and a member at the Gray School of Medical Sciences and Sagol School of Neuroscience.
Her research explores how hippocampal circuits balance stability and plasticity, and how failures in these mechanisms contribute to early dysfunctions in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Using advanced imaging, electrophysiology, and molecular tools, her lab uncovered key drivers of synaptic and network impairments in AD (e.g., Nature Neuro 2009, 2013; Cell Reports 2014, 2022; Neuron 2016, 2019).
She proposed that disruptions in firing homeostasis underlie AD progression (Nature Neuro 2018; Neuron 2018; Nature Rev Neuro 2024) and recently identified deep brain stimulation of the limbic midline thalamus as a potential therapeutic approach (Nature Com 2023).
Prof. Slutsky earned her Ph.D. from HUJI and completed her postdoc at MIT, receiving ERC, Bernard Katz, MetLife, and AFAR awards.
