Prof. Ilan Tsarfaty
Professor Ilan Tsarfaty is the Head of the Breast Cancer Precision Medicine Lab, where his research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of breast cancer, such as oncogene activation and metastasis.
His key contributions include demonstrating the role of the MET tyrosine kinase receptor in cell conversion and discovering how the HGF/SF pathway alters metabolic activity via the Mimp/MTCH1 gene.
His lab is dedicated to drug development and creating tools for precision medicine, developing an innovative platform that integrates systems biology, Al, and RAG technology to accelerate drug discovery.
His team identified a morphokinetic sub-population in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) that is eliminated by MET inhibitors and chemotherapy.
The lab is also developing an animal model to study how inherited driver modifier genes (IDMGs) influence tumors like breast carcinoma, lymphoma, and sarcomas. Some IDMGs also affect heart development and are predictive of breast cancer patient survival.
