Prof. Ella Sklan
Ella H. Sklan is an Associate Professor of Molecular Virology at Tel Aviv University, where she serves in the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
She received her B.Sc. in Biology, M.Med.Sci. in Immunology and Microbiology, and MBA from Ben-Gurion University, and her Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She then completed postdoctoral training at Stanford University in Virology and later served as a visiting scholar in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California.
Prof. Sklan has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications, reviews, and book chapters, and is an inventor on issued and pending patents related to antiviral discovery and virus–host interactions. Her laboratory focuses on the molecular mechanisms of RNA virus replication and pathogenesis, with an emphasis on bunyaviruses, flaviviruses, and host-virus interactions.
By integrating molecular virology, immunology, and cell biology, her team aims to uncover viral vulnerabilities and host pathways that can be targeted for therapeutic intervention.
