Prof. Dor Salomon
Prof. Dor Salomon is a world-renowned microbiologist, specializing in bacterial protein secretion systems and their role in microbial warfare and pathogenesis.
He earned his B.Sc. summa cum laude and completed his Ph.D. at TAU, followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
A two-time recipient of the prestigious ERC grant, he leads a lab focused on the Type VI Secretion System (T6SS), a molecular weapon bacteria use to inject toxins into rival and host cells.
By uncovering how these systems function and what toxins they deploy, Prof. Salomon aims to harness them for novel antibacterial therapies.
His interdisciplinary approach combines molecular biology, genetics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. Prof. Salomon's work bridges basic science and translational research, offering promising alternatives to traditional antibiotics in the fight against resistant pathogens.
