Prof. Chen Luxenburg

Short Bio

Chen Luxenburg, Ph.D. is a cell and developmental biologist and Associate Professor at the Gray School of Medical Sciences, Tel Aviv University.

His research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive tissue development in physiologically relevant systems, particularly the role of the actin cytoskeleton and its integration with adhesion and polarity complexes. Using genetic mouse models, in utero manipulation, and advanced imaging, his lab investigates how epidermal stem cells regulate tissue growth, morphogenesis, and differentiation during embryonic development.

Dr. Luxenburg earned his Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute of Science and completed postdoctoral training at Rockefeller University. He has received multiple competitive research grants, the Teva Founders Award, and several Excellence in Teaching honors.

He actively promotes developmental biology in Israel through his service in the Israeli Society for Developmental Biology and the Switzerland Institute for Developmental Biology. His lab collaborates across disciplines to advance understanding in skin biology, cancer, and regenerative medicine.
