Prof. (Emeritus) Chaim Pick
Prof. Pick earned his PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and completed his post-doctoral training in the Department of Neurology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NY with Dr. G.W. Pasternak.
He served as Chairman of the Department of Anatomy and Anthropology, Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. Over the years, his research has been conducted in collaboration with several US and international research centers, such as NIA, NINDS, NIDA, and the VA. It has been supported by Israeli sources, NIH grants, and US military funding.
Prof. Pick supervised a large number of students and trainees in neurobiology and has published more than 200 papers and book chapters in the field. In the last decade, his research has focused on various aspects of traumatic brain injury, including both blunt- and blast-induced injuries of varying severity (mild, moderate, and severe).
His research program combines behavioral, cellular, molecular, and in vivo pharmacology in his School of Medicine lab to characterize the neuroprotective properties of newly designed drugs. Currently, his research is focused on developing new strategies based on innovations in sports and sport-related injuries.
