Prof. Carmit Levy
Carmit Levy is a leading international authority in cancer research and a Full Professor at the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University. Trained in Pharmacy (M.Sc.) and Biochemistry (Ph.D.) at the Hebrew University, she completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of David Fisher.
Her pioneering work has uncovered how environmental cues, tumor-derived signals, and immune responses drive cancer initiation and progression, laying the foundation for innovative therapeutic strategies. By combining fundamental biology with clinical and translational research, her laboratory ensures that discoveries rapidly advance toward patient benefit.
Professor Levy has published landmark studies in Cell, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Communications, Molecular Cell, Science Translational Medicine, and other premier journals. She has secured over $10 million in competitive funding, including ERC Consolidator and Advanced Grants, and holds three patents for novel anti-cancer therapeutics. Her leadership has been recognized with the Mayent Rothschild Sabbatical Award, the International Melanoma Research Award, and the Dean’s and Rector's Awards for Excellence in Teaching reflecting her dual commitment to advancing science and fostering the next generation of scientists.
